Qualified
with Robson Rhodes in 1984. Over fifteen years' experience of forensic
work. Expertise in audit negligence actions, high-value insurance work,
matrimonial disputes and financial services. Wide range of other experience:
examples of cases include complex personal injury cases, loss of profits claim
involving national newspaper, valuation of £19m package of listed and
unlisted securities, and insurance claim following fire at aircraft factory. He
has given evidence in the High Court and the Crown Court.
Other experience before the formation of Sim Kapila included
involvement on the two largest areas of the Department of Trade and Industry
investigation into the affairs and membership of the Bestwood Plc. Also
engaged as a consultant with Robson Rhodes, chartered accountants, on an extremely
large audit negligence case resulting from the closure of the Bank of Credit
and Commerce International, producing reports on the bank's internal controls,
drafting sections of the experts' preliminary report on auditors' liability,
assisting with drafting the Statement of Claim and playing a central role in
the management of the assignment.
Published articles covering the relevance of pensions in matrimonial
disputes, the role of valuations in litigation, loss of profits cases, audit
negligence, the auditor's duty to report to regulators, asset tracking, money
laundering, and
Lloyd's-related
negligence actions. He has presented courses and seminars on forensic accountancy
to solicitors, insurers, law tutors and to regional groups of Solicitors' Family
Law Associations.
